Tribes and Arne Duncan

In case you didn’t get a chance to see the webcast, “A Discussion on Education Reform” with Arne Duncan, here are a few highlights and how they relate to what Tribes supports.  He talked about the importance of reducing the drop-out rate in high school; “dropping out of high school condemns one to a life of poverty.” To that end, Engaging All in High School Learning Communities, makes several assertions for making high school a place where students want to be, and learn. Personalization, caring and support, meaningful participation, positive expectations, rigor-relationships-relevance, equity, reflective practice, social/emotional learning and student-centered responsive education are just a sample of the important considerations for high schools that are focal points of the book and training
Mr. Duncan also spoke about parent involvement and how schools don’t do enough. What if there were a course for parents, to help them understand, support, and experience the culture of a Tribes classroom and school? Stay tuned to tribes.com for more on that!
